Fremont residents & commuters are loving the newly-opened Warm Springs BART bridge & plaza, where Gates served as plaza designer.

Patrons can walk the beautiful truss and cable-stay design with 110-foot-tall pylon crossing five operating railroad tracks, and enjoy our 1-acre Warm Springs Plaza offering “a unique sense of place for the community, including amphitheater seating for concerts, architectural lighting, a public art installation, and landscaping,” says BART. It was great to work with Bay Area Rapid Transit, the City of Fremont, Alameda County Transportation Commission, Union Pacific Railroad, Biggs Cardosa Associates (structural engineer), HNTB Corporation (bridge architect), and Shimmick Construction (construction contractor).
